Cortisone Injections

Cortisone or steroid injections to the scalp can reduce inflammation and stop immune responses to certain conditions like Alopecia Areata, or inflammatory cicatricial alopecia (link to section).

Injections are given to the affected area by a healthcare professional every four to six weeks.

Side effects from overuse may include the skin thinning on the area that was injected, slight temporary discomfort, and lightening of the skin.
